An earthquake shook up the New Jersey metro area on Saturday night. According to the United States Geological Survey
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.0 hits Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, at 10:18 p.m.

There have not been any reports of structural damage or injuries, as per Jonathan Tytell, a geophysicist at the USGS. The earthquake recorded a preliminary depth of 10 KM’s, which is shallow relative to other that are happening on earth these days, He said.

There were not any major impact reported after the earthquake as per, NYC Emergency Management ,The agency reported that tremors might be felt in the other part of the city.

New Yorkers should be prepared for the aftershocks that could have been occur days, hours or even minutes after the initial event happened, a post on the agency X account said. The post also recommended that those who felt shaking check for hazards like items that moved, falling debris or cracks.

The Empire State Building, mentioned on their X account to New Yorkers knowing it survived the shake. “I AM FINE”

Tytell said that this earthquake is less threatening then the 8.8 Magnitude Russian Earthquake Triggered Tsunami Warnings, in United States.

Tytell also said; those who were in the area of Saturday’s earthquake will experience the expected aftershocks of 1.0 magnitude. But weather this is a precursor to something big is unlikely.
